Anyone who uses the internet for any use, even one as basic as email, shopping, or conducting a business, needs to utilize an effective and up to date anti virus and spyware monitoring system to protect their personal, business and financial data. Although credit card theft is the number one form of identity theft, computer theft crimes rank in the top five dangers of identity theft.

There are three main ways that identity theft can occur from your internet usage:

-Phishing. You receive an email from one of the more well known online services or your bank, warning you with the message that your bank or other account may have been compromised, then asking you to clink a link and “log-in” If you follow those instructions, you end up providing a third party with your account information and access.

THE FOUR LETTER WORD CALLED "SPAM" THAT DRIVES US ALL NUTS

There are many four letter words in the English language that we will scold our children for saying but few will drive us to madness as quickly as the four letter word spam. I know that I have had people tell me that the telemarketer that I am rude enough to hang up on is just doing his/her job and trying to make a living but my immediate thought is let him/her call someone else because I am not interested in the least in what he/she has to say. I hate telemarketers and I hate spam.

What we call Phishing is the act to send unsolicited email to someone with false identity in order to scam the recipient and retrieve his personal information and steal his identity. This phenomenon is widespread on the Internet and many people are scamed everyday.

That is understandable because these at fisrt glance, the email look like as from legitimate and reputable company and sometimes, you could be familiar with this company. But the drawback is that it is a fake website built to replicate the legitimate site. CHIP N PIN GOOD OR BAD

More and more we are becoming a cashless society. Almost every purchase we make now days is on the card whether that is a credit card or a debit card. To try to limit credit and debit card fraud, the powers that be introduced Chip n pin so that you no longer sign for your purchase, you just enter your secret pin number and away you go. Best keep it safe from prying eyes though there are both advantages and disadvantages to the use of Chip n pin and this article will explore some of them.

The chip n pin prevents anyone from copying your signature.
